Charles Marklin presents "Girls of Color"
Artist's Bio:
The mechanical use of process direction and construction in my work, stems from a childhood fixation of a hands on creation of three dimensional objects. Surrounding myself with projects that involved building, fixing or piecing things together, I developed a very ingrained interest in the process associated with the crafting of materials. This interest is the basis of my expression and the fundamental element of unification in my mature work.
My approach begins with a figurative subject, upon a textured background, creating a multiple usage of layering which helps to bridge my interests of old world elements with a modern day presence. The culmination of these ingredients combined with my experience in interior design, and the extensive use of subtle color, pattern, and fragmented subject matter compliment each other and form the components of my artistic technique.
Opening Reception: Monday,
